Maximising every square inch, a balance between style and practicality was created in this old school railroad tenement.

A young vibe is found in the intimate space where the staging suggests areas for specific usage.

Furniture and prop sourcing, staging, painting services, floor resurfacing, custom furniture, custom soft goods, electric services and original artwork complement the installation.

The main room features exceptional high ceilings, original wood beams, a brick fireplace and built-in shelves.

The lounge area offers comfortable seating for 4. New window treatments were installed as well as a designer radiator cover.

Beautiful fabrics and modern light accents complement the look.

The original brick fireplace features a new mantle and refurbished hearth tiles.

A detail of the simple custom mantle. The artist-made candle holders came from upstate N.Y and follow the shape of the large oval mirror.

The office nook was carved out of the built-in shelves. The desk surface folds in half when not in use.

A modern pottery grouping is showcased in the built-in shelves.

A large paper lantern hangs over the round table, delineating -visually speaking, the dining area.

Taking advantage of the high ceilings, two sputnik chandeliers were installed in the long hallway. Vintage NYC images and an oriental runner complete the look.

A bit of humor is brought to the hallway thanks to Snoopy and Charley.

The small bedroom is elegant and stylish. The bed is framed by wall sconces, custom pillows and original artwork.

Bedroom textures detail.

Pillows were custom made to fit the bed size.

The original yellow tiles were cleaned and dressed up with a black stripe that evokes a vintage bathroom. Because of the window location, the shower curtain cleverly hangs from a ceiling track.

The very small kitchen is bold and playful. Floor was changed, walls were painted and a new backsplash and window treatment were installed. Accessories are modern and colorful.

The original countertops were treated with a hand-made custom faux slate finish.

The unique asymmetrical rug mirrors the circle motive used throughout the kitchen.

The backsplash and its bold geometrical design brings the whole installation together. The faux slate countertop was extended behind the stove to hide pipes and such while offering a bit extra useful surface.

All surfaces in the whole apartment were fixed and freshly painted.

The beautiful original floors were cleaned and varnished.

Custom closet doors were made to fit the odd size opening.

A custom removable A/C frame cover was made...

To cover the rough wall installation.

Custom pillows were sewn specifically for the rooms.

To give the bedroom a smart look, a ceiling fixture was made of rope and wire.

And every single lamp in the space was replaced.

The original bathroom was painted and details like the new window treatment, black trim and a wall sconce were added. Walls were fixed and tiles were cleaned.

Old cabinets around the apartment were fixed and trimmed.

The plain uninviting kitchen got a colorful fun makeover that included a new ceiling fixture, floor, window treatments, a faux slate countertop and a geometric backsplash.

As usual, all the packaging was recycled into a temporary mattress. A fave trick of ours.
